Can I use "Er." before my name after studying IT in Nepal?

Many students get confused about this — especially those who studied Management in +2 and later chose IT fields like BCA, BIT, BSc CSIT for their Bachelor’s degree.

The truth is: You cannot legally use "Er." before your name unless you have completed a recognized Bachelor in Engineering (like BE in Computer, Civil, Electrical, etc.) and are registered with the Nepal Engineering Council (NEC).

Degrees like BCA, CSIT, BIT, BIM, etc. are not Engineering degrees — they are IT or Computer Science courses and do not qualify for NEC registration.

So, instead of "Er.", you can professionally use:

• IT Officer
• Software Developer
• Web Engineer
• IT Specialist
• Tech Consultant

In short: No matter what you studied in +2 (Science, Management, or Humanities), if your Bachelor's is not BE (Engineering), you cannot use "Er." before your name in Nepal.
